My mum and I went on the 1.5 hour tour and we cannot recommend Gary and his zodiac enough! It was the highlight of our trip. We got lucky with beautiful weather at the beginning of April and we found two grey whales on our tour! One was swimming on its back for about forty minutes and came right near our boat. The other whale was sleeping about five feet below the surface. It was truly amazing to see. This was our first time ever seeing whales and it was so special. The smaller boat and group size made this experience even better. Being closer to the water was fantastic. I recommend the 1.5 hour tour, if we had done the shorter one we wouldn't have seen the second whale, and the time truly flies by. Gary's zodiac felt safe and was so fun to sit in up front. We would love to return one day and go whale watching with Gary again!

Can’t believe it’s taken me almost 2 years to write this review! What an incredible experience that I have yet to shut up about. There’s several other whale tours in the depoe bay are, however this one is the most personable in my opinion. Seeing whales breaching over and over again was life-altering. Even our captain was jumping with joy! Myself and some friends did this back in September of 2022 and it was absolutely magical. I will never forget this experience. I’ll be in town again from Georgia in the end of may and am considering booking again, which is what brought me here to do this review 🙂 thank you so much for the experience of a life time!

We had an amazing time on our whale watching trip. The boat was much smaller than we thought it would be but it made for a much more intimate experience. We got to see a whale and watched it for a long time. The captain also took us for a look at a cove. It was everything I hoped for.

We had a truly phenomenal and one of a kind personal feeling experience for our very first time ever seeing whales AND ever going on a boat into the ocean! Gary was a really incredible guide, very friendly full of awesome information and it truly felt like he wanted to do everything in his power to ensure we got to see whales! Which we did! We did the 90 minute tour and it was 100% worth the price to be able to do this. We really loved it. The boats are easy to locate to check in, the seating is good, and boarding the boats is easy and simple. They provide life jackets and off you go! We also got to see puffen penguins as well as a few different types of birds and seals along with seal pups!! This trip was absolutely worth the money for the experience time etc at only 45 per person! We will be coming back!!

Gary is super knowledgeable and friendly! I felt safe with him the whole time! I loved that we were able to get closer than some of the bigger boats whale watching but yet stayed far enough to respect the whales! Super cool when the whales come close to the boats on their terms! This was my second tour with Gary and I will definitely be back again and again!

My second time with this charter. Always awesome. Only six passengers on the boat. The captain is very knowledgeable but not overbearing. The small boat maneuvers easily to get into position once a whale is spotted. We saw several grey whales even though it was not migrating season. Highly recommended

We got to see a whale which is all we wanted! The boat was great it was not too cold, we didn’t get wet. Was better for sea sickness than a big boat. We were with 4 people in the back of the boat so it seemed like a private charter. He was able to maneuver around to follow the whale!

We had an amazing experience going whale watching with Whale’s Tail charters. Gary was our captain/guide, he is very knowledgeable, knows exactly where to find the whales and what to look for. We expected it to take a long time to maybe see a whale, but right when we got out into the ocean we saw whales! They are very respectful of the whales and their home. Some of the other whale tour boats had a lot of people aboard. We appreciated that this tour had a small group, and it was very personable. We can’t wait to go whale watching again with them!
